ENCODING YOUR DVD (FOR DUMMIES)

ENCODING YOUR DVD (ADVANCED)

There are two logical steps to encoding a DVD so that it can be played on your Digital Media Player. These are:-

1. Rip the DVD to your Hard Disk.

2. Encode any title that is on the DVD from this "Rip".

I will attempt to show you how to do these two steps in a logical fashion.

RIP THE DVD

(To your hard disk)

Nearly all DVD's have some form of protection to prevent you from copying them. This can be in both the content and structure of the media. The studios are continually attempting to add new copy protection schemes on nearly a weekly basis.

You need software to do remove this protection and I have found the most reliable to be DVD Fab which is available in three versions, a FREE Decrypter, and paid Gold and Platinum.

The same concepts and procedures apply to all three versions of DVD Fab.

I thoroughly recommend the Platinum Version as it provides you with a tool to both rip and encode your DVD's and it is continually updated to defeat new copy protection schemes.
